Can You Introduce Me to Your Attorney?

June 16, 2010 by christine

I have been literally buried with audits this past week and haven’t had a lot of time to post. Also, my loan audit class is just about full for Friday and I’m getting prepared for that too. I will be training new auditors who will work for me, and others who will offer auditing services in their community. I’ll tell you more about who they are in a blog post later this week.

I was totally surprised at how many attorneys sent in resumes for my auditing positions. I now think this makes a lot of sense, because I’m seeing more demand for help from attorneys who want to help homeowners. I’m also hearing that there is hardly any Continuing Legal Education (“CLE”) that is available to attorneys to teach them how to effectively defend homeowners, yet there’s plenty of CLE to teach the banks how to win.

Thus, I’ve discovered myself in a very good position to help more lawyers defend a foreclosure for their clients.

What’s really cool about working with homeowners is that many of you have become the best advocates for yourself, and for me. I’ve picked up several attorney clients in the past week or two because their clients told their attorney about me and the loan audit. I am so appreciative of this, because I am ready to seriously expand my reach to help more attorneys help you.

I think we’ve turned another corner in this mess now that the game is up with the banks. We know what’s really going on with modifications, and now that there are laws to stop scammers, they have mostly disappeared.

In essence, the playing field is being leveled as we watch.

I have developed a lot of respect for the lawyers who are helping homeowners even though they don’t have a lot of experience or knowledge. There’s something to be said for jumping and getting started, even when you don’t know the outcome. I know that many attorneys are risk averse, but the attorneys who are representing clients now are going to be very busy in the coming years as the foreclosure mess unravels.

Yesterday I had an attorney visit me for help stopping her foreclosure. Oh, the irony! A year ago, this would have never happened. I had countless attorneys say things like, “Christine, those cases are losers. You’re wasting your time.”

She is now taking my audit class on Friday, and with any luck, she will be ready to take on clients once she’s up to speed.

I know there are more just like her out there, and I want to meet them.

Since homeowners have lately been my best advocate, I have a favor to ask of you.

Can you introduce me to your attorney? Whether they are your friends, your family, out of work, or looking for some way to make a difference, I’m ready to help. I think it’s time to expand on establishing a nationwide network of professionals who can help you beat the bank.
