How do you explain Twitter?

I had a very long discussion with my parents last night about Twitter. They know the name of the service, because of late it seems every other story in the New York Times is about Twitter, however they just did not see the point.

I tried and to explain the service and it’s use for socialization and business but I don’t think they “got it.” So today I searched the internet and found two really good videos on Twitter. Tonight I will present the videos and see if this furthers the conversation. I will post the videos for any others in the same situation.
